Engineering & construction

IT for architecture, engineering and construction firms

Your model files and drawing sets are the business. We build IT around them: fast CAD machines, drawings you can find, and jobsites that stay connected to the office.

When we started working with engineering and construction firms, a project often had its own reprographics, document control, drafting and IT staff. Technology has taken most of those jobs away. It has not taken away the work.

Someone still has to keep the CAD machines fast, the drawings findable and the jobsite connected. In most firms that someone is now an engineer doing it on the side.

We would rather fix specific problems properly than sell you a trend. Right-sized solutions, not over-engineered ones. A few percent of time saved across every project adds up to real money on a firm’s bottom line.

What makes IT hard here

Large files, slow machines
Models and drawing sets that bring an under-specified workstation to a halt.
Drawings you cannot find
Decades of plans and blueprints in flat files and boxes, and the one sheet you need is never where it should be.
Jobsite to office
Field staff in a trailer needing the same files and systems as the people at headquarters.
Project costs in hindsight
Cost tracking that tells you a project went over budget after it already has.
Fewer support staff than there used to be
Dedicated reprographics, document control and CAD support teams have largely gone. The work they did has not.

What we do

CAD workstations
Machines specified and tuned for CAD and modeling, so designers are not waiting on hardware.
Drawing digitization
Large-format scanning of drawings, blueprints and maps into searchable, organized directories.
Document management
One place for project documents, with version control that people actually follow.
Cloud migration
Project files moved to the cloud so the office and the field work from the same set.
Jobsite connectivity
Construction trailers and remote sites with reliable internet, Wi-Fi and secure access back to the office.
Project reporting
Real-time, project-based cost tracking, project management tools and executive dashboards.
Building automation
Building automation and SCADA for the facilities you build or run.
Business continuity
A plan for keeping projects moving when the office, a site or a key system is out.

Questions we get asked

Are you an engineering firm?

No. We are an IT company that works with architecture, engineering and construction firms. We understand how you use technology; we do not design buildings.

Can you set up a construction trailer?

Yes. Internet, Wi-Fi, printers, phones and secure access back to the office, so the trailer works like a branch office.

Do we need the latest technology trend to compete?

Usually not. We prefer right-sized fixes to specific problems over buying into a trend. Over-engineering costs money and adds things to break.

Can you scan our old drawings?

Yes, including large-format engineering drawings, blueprints and maps, indexed so they can be searched.

Thirty minutes, and you will know where you stand.

No obligation, no pitch deck. We will tell you what we would do and what the ceiling would be. If that is not worth it, you have lost half an hour.
