Co-managed IT
Backup for the IT person you already have
You have an IT person, or a small team. They are good, they are stretched, and they cannot take a holiday. We fill the gaps without taking over.
Co-managed IT is for companies that already have someone in-house. You do not need us to run everything. You need someone to call when the queue gets too long, when your IT person is away, or when a problem is outside what they have done before.
Nobody knows everything, including us and including your IT staff. The difference is knowing when to ask. If your team taught themselves how to do something, can you be sure it was done right?
We fill the gap, do the work, and brief your team on how it was done. They do not have to become experts. They do need to understand what is running on their network.
What's included
- Overflow help desk
- Extra help desk capacity when your team is buried, so routine requests do not crowd out their real work.
- Senior escalation
- Specialist help on the hard problems, from someone who has seen it before.
- After-hours and holiday cover
- A few nights, holiday backup, or ongoing nights and weekends, so your IT person can switch off.
- Emergency support
- Skilled people on hand when an incident is more than your team can handle alone.
- Skills gap work
- A task outside your team's experience, completed by us, then explained to your team so they understand what was done.
- Training
- A look at your team's current skills, the gaps that matter, and training delivered in person, online or both.
- Project capacity
- An extra pair of hands for the project that keeps slipping because nobody has time.
A good fit if
- You have one or two IT staff covering everything.
- Your IT person has not had a real holiday in years.
- A specific task is outside what your team has done before.
- Your team is good but stretched, and the backlog keeps growing.
Probably not the right fit if
- You want us to replace your IT staff. That is not what this is, and we will not pitch it.
How it works
-
Agree the split
Your team stays in charge. We agree what we handle, what they keep, and how we hand off.
-
Connect the tools
Shared access, documentation and a clear escalation route.
-
Cover the gaps
We pick up the overflow, the nights, the holidays and the hard problems.
-
Step back
When a skills gap is closed or a project is done, we hand over and leave.
How it's priced
Co-managed work is billed for the time you use, or scoped as a project with a not-to-exceed price.
Questions we get asked
Who is in charge?
Your team. We supplement them; we do not manage them. Decisions about your systems stay with the people you employ.
Are you trying to replace our IT staff?
No. The best co-managed setups make your IT person more effective and less exhausted. We would rather help you keep a good employee than replace one.
Can we use you for just one project?
Yes. Complete the project, close the knowledge gap, teach your team, then step back. That is a common way to start.
What kind of skills gaps do you fill?
Anything from a complex report to a SCADA modification to a firewall rebuild. If we have not done it ourselves, we will say so before you pay for it.
