Security & compliance

Is there such a thing as HIPAA certification?

No. There is no official HIPAA certification. What matters is that your safeguards meet the HIPAA rules and that anyone handling PHI for you signs a Business Associate Agreement, which TenacIT does.

No. The federal government does not certify anyone as HIPAA compliant, and any “certificate” you see is a vendor’s own badge.

What matters is that your administrative, physical and technical safeguards meet the HIPAA Security Rule, that you can show it, and that every vendor who handles protected health information for you signs a Business Associate Agreement (BAA).

TenacIT signs a BAA with a client before handling any PHI. In Texas, also read up on HB 300, which reaches further than HIPAA. See HIPAA compliance.
